Advocacy

James' early onset of colorectal cancer spawned his mission to link music and cancer awareness.

Music as Medicine

Candidly sharing the implications his stage III colorectal diagnosis had on both his outlook and his motivation to cement his legacy, James directs his circumstances as a call to action for both himself and others. The video was created with the support of Olympus and the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

New Bloom

A visual statement about manifesting positivity to overcome obstacles, “New Bloom” tells a story of hope alongside creatives and cancer survivors in New York City. The video was created with the support of Olympus and the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and will release. Released during Colorectal Cancer awareness month in 2023.

Community Impact

Speaking at the Atlantic's People v. Cancer summit in 2022, James recounts difficulties faced pre-diagnosis while probing the source of abdominal pain, which ultimately leads to diagnosis of colorectal cancer at age 38.

TODAY show

James appeared on the TODAY show to promote the release of his solo music and spread awareness for young-onset colorectal cancer in the Black community.

Special thanks to Colorectal Cancer Alliance, Olympus Corporation of Americas, and Association of Black Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists. These organizations were dear to James, supporting him both as an artist and an advocate through his fight and beyond.
