‘A Little Something For Everyone’ EP Releases Dec. 5; Proceeds Will Benefit The Colorectal Cancer Community, Of Which Casey Is A Member

New York, NY – Acclaimed saxophonist and vocalist James Casey will make his solo recording debut with the release of a special Christmas EP – A Little Something For Everyone – on Dec. 5 via 12/23 Records to support the fight against colon cancer.
Created in partnership with Nancy Langhorne Foundation, proceeds will support the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and will help provide free colon cancer screenings for the uninsured.
Pressed on limited-edition 7” blue vinyl, A Little Something For Everyone offers a heartfelt Christmas collection that showcases Casey’s intrinsic jazz, funk, R&B and gospel influences. Casey will roll out one single per week – starting Nov. 14 with the lead track and original tune “Christmafunk” – before the album releases in its entirety on Dec. 5.
A multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and producer based in New York City, Casey is widely known as the saxophone player and vocalist for Trey Anastasio Band. He’s recorded with Phish, toured with Meghan Trainor, performed on the Tonight Show with the Jonas Brothers and shared the stage with Dave Matthews Band, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Billy Strings, among others.
Casey was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2021, which made this holiday EP project an extremely personal undertaking. As colorectal cancers are the second-most common form of cancer and disproportionately affect the Black community, Casey has become an outspoken advocate for awareness and prevention among his peers.
“When I was approached with the opportunity to record, I jumped at the chance,” Casey said. “Although we had a lot of setbacks while recording due to chemotherapy, being able to make a fun, holiday record with my friends to help people get access to screening for something that I am currently battling was a no-brainer. The fact that it’s the first music released under my own name is definitely an added bonus!”
Produced and arranged by Casey, A Little Something For Everyone was recorded at Creamery Studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, mixed by Jack Mason and Michael Coffman and mastered by Doug Krebs. The album features top New York session musicians including Randy Runyon (guitar), Ian Faquini (guitar), Matt Owens (trumpet), Steve Jenkins (bass), Corey Bernhard (keys), Natalie Cressman (backing vocals) and Derrick White (horns), who arranged the album’s rendition of “Joy to the World.”
Vinyl production will be limited to just 300 copies, with silk screened and numbered album jackets designed by Brooklyn-based artist Nate Cepis. The album is available for pre-order on Nov. 7 at 1223Records.com, with vinyl shipping in mid-December.
A Little Something For Everyone marks Casey’s first recording under his own name, and preludes his forthcoming solo EP Kauai, due to release in early 2023.

About the Nancy Langhorne Foundation and 12/23 Records
The Nancy Langhorne Foundation was founded in 2017 by Richard Langhorne, a Brooklyn-based advertising creative director, in honor of his late mother. To date, the foundation has raised $40,000 for cancer research and free screenings at the East Virginia Medical School, Sloan Kettering and the Medical College of Virginia. Their main initiative is the annual Xmas Eve Eve Benefit Concert held annually on Dec. 23 in Norfolk, VA. In 2021 the foundation launched 12/23 Records, a nonprofit holiday music label, which partners with a different artist every year to release a limited-edition 7-inch EP, featuring the artist's take on classic Christmas songs and donate the proceeds to charity. The first release was DJ William’s Almost Christmas in 2021, followed by James Casey’s A Little Something for Everyone in 2022. In addition to their musical ventures the organization also has a standing partnership with Vessel Craft Coffee to create a special-edition blend each December called “The Benefit Blend,” with proceeds of that also donated to fight cancer.
